Readers may be familiar with Lamborghini's supercars. The latest model is the Aventador, which went on sale last year - for almost US $380,000!
If you want to know what it's like to drive one, a review may be found here.
One of the first of the new models to be imported into this country was being test-driven by a potential customer in Los Angeles on Saturday when something went wrong. Jalopnik reports:
A black Lamborghini Aventador burned itself up like a protesting Buddhist monk this morning in Southern California ... And here we thought self-immolation was a Ferrari trademark.
The [driver] is ok, but the gorgeous black bull is sadly a pile of blackened metal.
There's more at the link. Here's a video report.
There have been other reports of Lamborghinis catching fire. I hope they can figure out what's causing the problem . . . otherwise I suspect insurers will refuse to provide fire coverage. I hope the dealer that owned this car was covered for the loss, because I suspect the customer who was test-driving it no longer wants to buy it!
