Doofus Of The Day #527

Today's award goes collectively to the 'Occupy Wall Street' movement. I've been following their demonstrations with some interest (not much, because those conducting them appear to be the wackiest kind of moonbat progressives, but they have a certain entertainment value - if nothing else!). If you're interested, there's an extensive series of photographs here.

Today I found a 'Proposed List Of Demands' on the movement's Web site. Here's a selection.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

Demand four: Free college education.

. . .

Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.

. . .

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

. . .

Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

There are more at the link (not that any of them are more economically literate than the shambles above . . . )

Reading that list, I can't help but wonder how on earth someone can be so blind to reality, so economically illiterate, so fundamentally stupid, as to believe that such steps should even be considered, let alone acted upon. There are many signs visible during these demonstrations saying 'Tax The Rich' - but where do they expect to find sufficient 'rich' to tax for even a tiny fraction of the amounts these demands argue should be spent? You could tax every single person earning more than $100,000 in the USA at a rate of (say) 95%, and you still wouldn't get close to these numbers!

I'll willingly talk to anyone, of any political persuasion, even if it (and they) are diametrically opposed to my own. I'm willing to concede that I may be wrong on some (even, perhaps, many) issues. I'll gladly give someone an opportunity to state their case, intelligently and rationally, so that I can consider their position objectively. However, the 'Occupy Wall Street' moonbats are neither intelligent, nor rational, nor objective. They're way out there, not so much in left field as in cloud cuckoo land! Doofi, indeed . . .

Verily, the mind doth boggle!

These brat's grandparents did a better job in the 1960's.

Probably because back in those days the marijuana and cocaine was pure and organic instead of today's synthetic stuff laced with unknown quantities of paint solvent.

My other theory are the Tatoos and piercings. They didn't have too many 45 years ago (except for the birdie on the ball, bull dog and anchor that sailors and Marines). Today every wannabe "hippie" is festooned with multi-colored tats, nose, tongue and other metallic body adornment. That stuff is probably contaminated with all sorts of fiendish chemicals, whic cause brain inbalence.

Toejam - last I heard there are no FDA approved tattoo dyes (probably because they can't decide if they are food, drug, medical appliance or cosmetics).

I read the demands list yesterday as well. Might as well promise free X-Boxes and Wiis along with 4G wireless for all. No, this crew has no idea of economic reality and their grasp on other realities seems to be shaky.

To be honest, the most recent US protests I've seen snippets of have been disappointing. No wit or humor, vague aims, poor behavior by the protesters and all for no really good cause. "Free college education for all" is not enough cause to shut down the Brooklyn Bridge IMHO.

It's what you get when you have a bunch of young folks who have neither done anything productive in their lives nor do they plan to ever begin doing so. When your term for jobs is "wage slavery," you can begin to see what they want the world to do... essentially pay them to sit around, listen to indie rock, and just be themselves.

There is a small bunch running around in downtown STL complaining about how rich people are hoarding wealth and not spending it. Fact is, even if the wealthy spent every single dime, they'd see none of it because they produce nothing of any actual use.

They make nothing, they do nothing, and yet they ask for everything.

Several bloggers I follow have expressed strong views on the subject. This article from the Oathkeepers site caught my attention, and I'm asking you and your readers for insight. I'm posting this comment on a few different blogs, so you might see it elsewhere. Thanks!

Demand #2 makes me giggle. I've seen the insurance company statements that said the services that they provided to my family cost $X.XX, but they accepted the payment of the insurance company that was less than the cost the hospital listed.

But these EEEVIL private health insurance companies are clearly stealing money from someone, though. /scarcasm
