The ATF scandal spreads beyond US borders

Following the exposure of the scandal about the ATF's "Operation Gunrunner", which has allegedly led to the death of at least one Federal law enforcement officer, it seems Mexican politicians are jumping on the bandwagon.

Legislators from all of Mexico's three major parties in congress are calling for a joint U.S.-Mexico working group to examine accusations that U.S. federal agents allowed hundreds of guns to flow into Mexico.

Congressman Humberto Trevino estimated Tuesday that 150 shooting injuries or deaths have been linked to guns that were allowed to proceed into Mexico as part of a U.S. effort to build cases against traffickers.

There's more at the link.

I'm not sure where Congressman Trevino got his figure of '150 shooting injuries or deaths'; I suspect he plucked it out of thin air. Nevertheless, with this many politicians getting involved, I suspect the ATF's apparent efforts to suppress the scandal are doomed to failure - at any rate, I sincerely hope so.

I want every official who approved Project Gunrunner, every official who was responsible for overseeing it, and every official who tried to cover it up, prosecuted to the fullest possible extent of the law; I want the most guilty imprisoned for as long as possible; and I want the rest fired from Government and law enforcement service, and never trusted again.

Remember that the constitution of the United States of Mexico guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. But the politicians decided it did not mean that and outlawed private arms.

Probably many of those 150 are druggies killed by citizens defending themselves and the politician is upset that his constituents/paymasters are being killed by the citizens.

And now the ATF is baling water and plugging holes as fast as they can. Let's redirect our attention to these guys, at whom the ATF are pointing fingers. They're the guilty ones!

Lets hope they do not get too enthusiastic in trying to divert attention. The last ATF "image enhancing" operation killed a hundred or so innocents at Waco.
