Two brothers and their cousin were discussing their plans for a spree of burglaries last week when one of the three 'pocket-dialed' the Onondaga County 911 Center on a cellphone as they were driving, Onondaga County sheriff’s deputies said today.
The three also commented on their surroundings as they drove in the town of Clay, leading deputies right to their vehicle, Sgt. John D’Eredita said. There was stolen property inside at the time of the stop, he said.
. . .
Deputies were already on the way April 26 to a call of a suspicious person in the 4600 block of Dey Road in Clay when the cellphone call was answered at 911, D’Eredita said. As the 911 operator listened, the conversation was obvious to the call taker as referring to break-ins, he said.
"The conversation within the car was about businesses they were interested in breaking into," D’Eredita said.

I think that's the first time I've ever heard of crooks dialing 911 with the details of their crimes while actually committing them! How lucky can a cop get?

Is this the "112" ( I think ) which defaults to local emergency number, even when the phone is switched off?
