About not judging books by their covers . . .

Via BoingBoing, we're introduced to a British Web site called, intriguingly, 'Good Show, Sir'. It documents the weird and wacky covers sported by many science fiction and fantasy novels. Some of them are real laugh-out-loud oddities. Here are a couple to whet your appetite, with the Web site's comments in italics beneath them.

According to the author, this cover was commissioned for another book
but somehow ended up on hers. It’s very loosely appropriate:
there is a sword, and there is a hero, but he is quite explicitly gay.

I was going to talk about his lack of spacesuit, or his overabundance of cleavage,
or the protruding rock in space. Then I noticed that one of the strange
ghost-images was smoking a cigar, and all words failed me.

There are plenty more at the link. Go read, and enjoy!
