DirJournal has published an interesting list which it headlines, 'The Best Quotes Of All Time'. I don't think that's an entirely accurate description of the contents, because the majority of the quotations cited are relatively modern, dating back only a couple of centuries, and thus exclude much of our history and heritage. Nevertheless, it's an interesting and often amusing collection. Here are a few examples.
AGE: “Middle age is when you’re sitting at home on a Saturday night and the telephone rings and you hope it isn’t for you” - Ogden Nash
BEAUTY: “I’m tired of all the nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. That’s deep enough. What do you want – an adorable pancreas?” - Jean Kerr
CHANGE: “Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you’ll understand what little chance you have in trying to change others” - Jacob M. Braude
COURAGE: “Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen” - Winston Churchill
EQUALITY: “I believe in equality for everyone, except reporters and photographers” - Mohandas Gandhi
HUMOR: “Analyzing humor is like dissecting a frog. Few people are interested and the frog dies of it” - E.B. White
MONEY: “If you’re given a choice between money and sex appeal, take the money. As you get older, the money will become your sex appeal” - Katherine Hepburn
SUCCESS: “Opportunity is missed by most people, because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work” - Thomas Edison
There are many more at the link. Recommended and frequently amusing reading.
